Caring for your hair

Raw wavy hair is naturally full of movement. Its beauty lies in the softness of its wave, the variation in its pattern and the way it was crafted with utmost care and precision.

With the right ritual, the hair will retain its softness, movement and natural lustre for years to come.

Preserve the wave

Wavy hair is best handled gently and with intention. Avoid excessive brushing, particularly when the hair is dry, as this can disturb the natural wave pattern and create unnecessary frizz.

To refresh the hair, lightly mist with water and allow the wave to reform naturally. Where needed, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, beginning at the ends and working gradually upwards.

Wash with care

Wash the hair as required using a gentle, sulphate-free shampoo, followed by a nourishing conditioner.

Allow the water to flow through the hair rather than manipulating it excessively. When conditioning, work through the lengths and ends with your fingers, taking care not to pull or stretch the hair.

Rinse thoroughly with cool to lukewarm water.

Restore its softness

After washing, gently press the hair between a soft towel to remove excess water. Avoid rubbing, twisting or wringing the hair.

Apply a small amount of lightweight leave-in conditioner or hair oil through the lengths and ends while the hair is still damp.

Allow the hair to air dry where possible. This preserves the natural movement of the wave and minimises unnecessary heat exposure.

When using heat

Heat may temporarily alter the natural wave pattern. If styling with heat, always use a heat protectant and keep the temperature moderate.

For a softer finish, allow the hair to dry naturally before using a diffuser on a low setting.

While wearing

Avoid sleeping directly on cotton where possible, as friction can disturb the wave and reduce moisture.

Before bed, gently detangle the lengths and loosely secure the hair. A silk or satin scarf or pillowcase is recommended to minimise friction overnight.

Avoid excessive exposure to chlorine and salt water. If the hair comes into contact with either, rinse thoroughly with clean water as soon as possible.

When not in use

Allow the hair to dry completely before storing.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep the hair loosely secured rather than tightly folded or compressed.
