Caring for your hair

Raw straight hair is defined by its smooth movement, natural lustre and effortless fall.

Its beauty is understated. With considered care, the hair will retain its softness, shine and fluidity, allowing its natural quality to speak for itself.

Preserve the smoothness

Straight hair is best handled gently and regularly. Detangle with a soft-bristle brush or wide-tooth comb, beginning at the ends and gradually working upwards.

Avoid brushing aggressively or repeatedly through the same areas, as unnecessary friction can contribute to dryness and breakage.

Wash with care

Wash the hair as required using a gentle, sulphate-free shampoo, followed by a nourishing conditioner.

Apply shampoo primarily to the scalp and allow it to move naturally through the lengths as you rinse. Condition from the mid-lengths through to the ends, where moisture is most needed.

Rinse thoroughly with cool to lukewarm water.

Restore its lustre

After washing, gently press the hair with a soft towel to remove excess water. Avoid rubbing, twisting or wringing the lengths.

Apply a small amount of lightweight leave-in conditioner or hair oil to the mid-lengths and ends while the hair is damp.

Allow the hair to air dry naturally where possible. This helps preserve its softness and minimises unnecessary exposure to heat.

When using heat

Although straight hair naturally lends itself to styling, frequent exposure to high temperatures can affect its softness and lustre.

Always apply a heat protectant before using heated tools and keep the temperature moderate. Allow the hair to dry completely before using straighteners or curling tools.

For an exceptionally smooth finish, a gentle blow-dry on a cool setting with a suitable brush may be used.

While wearing

Minimise friction throughout the day and particularly while sleeping. A silk or satin scarf or pillowcase can help preserve the smoothness of the hair and reduce friction against the lengths.

Avoid going to bed with wet hair, as the hair is more susceptible to stretching and tangling when wet.

If the hair comes into contact with chlorine or salt water, rinse thoroughly with clean water as soon as possible.

When not in use

Ensure the hair is completely dry before storing.

Store loosely in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Avoid tightly folding, compressing or placing weight on the lengths.

With considered care, straight hair should retain the qualities that make it so effortless: softness, movement and a natural, enduring lustre.
